body positive, a community based hiv/aids research and resource center is working on a preventive vaccine and other promising therapies in the treatment of hiv and aids. body positive also provides vital services and support to the hiv community in arizona. clinical trials and research program -tests preventive vaccines and new therapies as part of the federal drug administration (fda) approval process. -participated in studies used in the approval of 18 of the 23 drugs currently on the market for hiv/aids. -currently one of only ten sites in the us participating in trials for 2 merck vaccines. prevention programs -working to stop the spread of the disease. -targets teens, hiv-positive individuals, women, and the msm community. licensed behavioral health services -offers practical resources and emotional support to the infected and affected. education programs -offers education to help people manage the virus. -workshops offered on skills building, the biology of hiv, how to live with hiv, healthcare, medical treatments and alternatives. wellness programs -helps to ensure an increased quality of life for hiv-positive individuals. -services include nutritional counseling, acupuncture, herb & vitamin supplements, chiropractic and naturopathic counseling. for more info, feel free to download these word documents global stat impact fact sheet
